You fishing USA or Crappie Masters Ray?
Wannabe...
I do not think so. I am taking a bit of a break. I will probably fish Columbus next month.
Well, good...send my all your secret 3 pound hidey holes then. :)
Nah, I was just wondering. Was gonna make a point to run you down while you were here and show you how much prettier I've gotten.

how do you single pole?
It is in my opinion the most fun way to crappie fish.. but not necessarily the most productive method..
Alright.. I guess I am in kind of a trouble making mood but here we go:
After a good deal of ciphering on the subject, I think for the competitive sport of crappie fishing to be interesting enough to a nationwide audience for an ESPN and to be capable of lending itself to supportive commercial advertising the competitive sport will have to go to single pole artificial bait only competition. That is just the way it is..
I have seen some feedback from crappie shows that featured trolling minnows and it was terrible. Test audience rating not unsellable.
Good ahead and tell me how you don't care about TV shows and tournaments.. but before you do.. study a bit about Bass fishing and how the competitive sport and TV changed the very rules and laws of Bass fishing.. Again that is just the way it is...
All that said I own trolling poles and troll a great deal but I figure my children will have to learn to catch them "single pole" fishing.
I suppose then that I didn't really have fun catching all those big fish to win the FJ at Lake Washington, pulling crank baits.:eek::confused:
Major.. Your beloved crankbait method may just survive. Because crankbaits are the fastest growing bait revenue stream in the crappie industry. I also suspect on TV you could see the poles jerk and bow with the strike. Remember the message is not that us die hard crappie fishermen do not have fun catching crappie with bunches of poles and dozens of minnows. The message is it is not entertaining to watch and does not sell baits or attract sponsors.
Here is another sport that was changed by TV and sponsors.. Deer hunting,, You guys remember when dog hunting ruled deer hunting?... Almost unheard of now..
I will be honest I look forward to the day I can watch professional crappie fishermen making a good living on ESPN..
Crappie fishermen have proved to be an adaptive group accepting changes and prospering. I miss the good ole days of dog hunting deer and I will look back on spider rigging the same way.. Just a view from my crystal ball..
And I appreciate your view and your preferred method of fishing. I too have had a lot of fun single poling so I'll not put that method down or any other (except yoyos). Good fishing to you CH68.
I have a terrible time catching 3 lbers, really bothers me thats why i keep trolling.
Oh man naw...dont get me wrong ...not saying you aint having fun....was talking about folks watching other folks catching crappie on TV....I aint got a thing against trollers and spider riggers...we all just having fun the way we want to have fun....and thats what its all about....we always messing with each other on here....all in good fun!!!!Thumbs Up
I hope I'm able to contain myself when my first 3#'er hits that 16' pole.Thumbs UpThumbs UpThumbs Up
I'm new here,but love to catch em how ever i can.Especially a 3lber on a single pole
Even better!
I never thought I'd like spider riggin as much as I do, but it still ain't nothing like single poling.
Crappie fishing TV needs a personality like DD, to make it more fun. You could have a show where everytime you get a bite on the line the host would bite you. Seriously, I watched the CM series and thought it was poorly done (my opinion).
I Think CM is getting better with the TV show and I hope they can take it to the next level. Russ did make a good show but in today's TV market it takes a ton of marketing support money to pull off good quality production and pay for decent air time.
.Watching a dude single pole is about exciting as watching Bill Dance,
Jim you watching the wrong guy.. Enough said?
Put me on there with a bunch of half nekid coeds and it'll be a TV Smash lol
Nessa gonna get you DD..
I can run a camera DD... I think ya may be onto somethin here
I think you right minner
You do know you typed that out loud don't you?
Besides, he's prolly get sued by Larry the Cable guy for copyright infringement. I can see the first episode of him hoisting a striper and saying "Now that's good eatin' right there, I don't care who you are".
