In memory of my father.
In loving memory of my Father, John Moes.
I finally found the courage to post this. He passed away 2 weeks ago after a battle recovering from his second broken hip. He never made it home. His suffering is over, may he rest in peace. He is in a better place now.
He bought me my first Zebco 202. I'm not 100% sure, but I think the one I still have in my basement is that very same one he bought me. He took us perch fishing off the Montrose Harbor Pier on Lake Michigan in Chicago when we were so young I can barely remember. He wasn't real big on fishing, but he did fish, and more than that, he loved to take my brother and I fishing when he had the opportunity. He will be missed.
At my Aunts house on Kentucky Lake.

Ed, you are not alone. God's grace and mercy and the thousands of family here on this forum are here to comfort you and your family. My dad passed away Christmas seven years ago. I know and share your pain because I have walked in your shoes. Hold on to the wonderful memories he left you and find your comfort in the scriptures. He is in the land of "No more.". No more pain. No more worries. No more crying. No more broken fishing knots. No more worries. He raised a fine son in you. Trust God. He will help you through this.

Sorry for your loss. Prayers going up.

Ed sorry to hear about your loss and thanks to ship for pointing it out to me. I lost my Dad 5 years ago and I know that empty feeling that follows. May he rest eternally and may the peace of the Lord be with you and your family. Although he is gone from site the memories will linger forever.
Blessings,

Philippians 1:20-23
20According to my earnest expectation and my hope, that in nothing I shall be ashamed, but that with all boldness, as always, so now also Christ shall be magnified in my body, whether it be by life, or by death.
21For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.
22But if I live in the flesh, this is the fruit of my labour: yet what I shall choose I wot not.
23For I am in a strait betwixt two, having a desire to depart, and to be with Christ; which is far better:

Slab, I'm so sorry to hear of your loss. A father is a special person to a son and as long as you remember your times together he will live on. My father has been gone now for 25 years but the times we spent together could never be replaced. Time will ease the heart.
My Thoughts and Prayers are with you.

I'm new on here but sure appreciate what you have done that allows us all to share the greatest hobby with others of the same mind. I guess your Dad started it all by taking you fishing. With me it was my Grandpa and I remember him every time I fish. May God bless you and comfort you during this hard time.

Sorry to hear of your loss, ED. A lot of us know what you are going thru now. We have been there and know of the empty feelings that you are experiencing now. Having your family and loved ones close to you and sharing fond memories really help ease the pain of loneliness at this time. I am sure that you had a very loving and caring family. But you are very lucky, in that, you have an extended family here on CDC and we feel your pain with you. Our prayers go out to you and your family during this time of loss. Just know that your Dad is in good hands with a lot of our Dads in heaven and will show him around and take care of him as you take care of us. EB

Sorry to hear of your loss. Should be a blessing knowing his suffering is over. I lost my dad to cancer about 5 years ago and it was tough, even though he was suffering. It still hurts when I see or remember certain things that stir up his memory. He will always be with you in some way as my dad is with me. Time is the best healer along with your faith in our creater.

Not much else I can add to what everyone else has said except to say we too are sorry for your loss. Prayers from my family to yours! We all follow that path to eternity.

Ed,
I am so sorry for your loss. This is something I dread ever happening to me. I have fished with my father since I was a little boy and can't imagine him not being there. You are truly blessed to have spent what looks like many great times with your father fishing. May God bless you and your family. Hang in there buddy!

Ed, Sorry for the loss of your Dad. It's only been 4 months since we lost "Pop", my Father-in-Law. He treated me as his own son. It was pretty hard for the first couple of months but you get to where you start remembering all the good times that you shared and it gets a little better to deal with as time passes.
