What's the best line for spider rigging ??

i have been using 6lbs hi vise green on my spider rigging poles with a clear leader. Thinking about to start using my 14' PS trolling rods with the line counter reels and i have 10 lbs test on them and don't want to change the reels. wondering if it is going to make alot of difference. Wanted to see what everybody else was using.

I use 10# vicious hivis on mine. These lakes are so muddy, it makes no difference.

Ditto fer me to. I also use a clear leader not that it really matters.

I use HiVis vicious 10# most of the time. 6# is the least I would use.

Heck, as muddy as it is on my home lake, Barnett, I've been using 20 lb hi-vis BRAID lol don't make that much of a difference. When we were at Enid this Spring, I heard several people talking about braid vs mono and you'd catch more on mono cause they could see braid. I had a mix of poles out, some with braid and some with mono so I half way kept up with it. I didn't see any difference at all to be honest. That was just one time though and not enough to come up with a clear conclusion on it though.

DD, that is great line if you want to relocate brush piles or tow a boat to the bank..:eek::eek:On the positive side you can use it for Cobia fishing on the coast...:rolleyes::rolleyes:

DonG, , it really hacked me off this spring about the oil cause I was gonna take the boat down and Cobia fish for the first time ever. Maybe this next spring I can get on 'em. That's one reason I bought the bay boat, to fish in the gulf then the oil happened this year.AAAHHH

We use to fish Platform 107..Great Cobia(Lemon Fish, Ling) & Red Snapper fishing..Of course there were no limits back then...We would sell the Red Snapper in Mobile to pay for the trip..:)

I really miss those times...

I just want some inshore action and heard the Cobia would get inside the islands. That's about as far as I trust that 18 1/2 footer I have and feel safe going to Horn, ship and Cat island. I'm still hoping to get down there this fall to hit the Specks and reds but we'll see if I can come up with the time when there's a full moon or close to it. The last 2 trips I took, there was a lag tide so no current at all. There MIGHT have been a 1/2 foot difference in high and low tide so needless to say, we didn't catch squat

I use ONLY VICIOUS 15lb Hi-Vis with a 10lb Floro leader in the fall and winter . I change to 12lb. Hi Vis with 8lb. Floro leader in the spring. After spawn, I go to Hi-Vis 6lb. on my BnM jigs poles.
