Easier way to post pictures from your computer.

You can change your "Setting" (upper right corner) to use the WYSIWYG editor which allows you to more quickly upload pics.

Go to: "Setting" (upper right corner)
Click on "General Settings" (left side, middle of My Settings box)
Go to bottom of page and select:

• Enhanced Interface - Full WYSIWYG Editing

Message Editor Interface:

• Enhanced Interface - Full WYSIWYG Editing
• Basic Editor - A simple text box
• Standard Editor - Extra formatting controls

I always seen it this way. "G" finally sunk it in my head that there was a problem with the masses. Funny thing is, all new users get the WYSIWYG enhanced interface by default. And I searched high and low, there's no way for me to change it for all previous user at once.

My grandaddy alway told me "alway's listen to an old bird, may learn something" G3 fit's the bill;)

Once you change the setting as mentioned above, to post an image all you have to do is click the "Insert Image" icon above the text box that you type your message in. Here's what the icon looks like: Attachment 46726


You'll see something that kinda looks like this, and you can now choose between add an image from your computer, or add an image from a URL:

Allowed Filetypes: jpg, jpeg, png, gif

What makes it quicker and better is that all you have to do to insert a picture from your computer is go to "My Pictures" or "Desktop" and click on the file that you want to insert and it does it for you. No more posting pictures your PC, then to Photo Bucket, then having to log in to Photo Bucket and copying the url then pasteing it in the C.C message. Thanks again Ed, you are doing a great job teaching us what you are learning!

test-image is jpeg size 1.12 mb, should images be resized smaller to say server space and make site more user friendly? tks

That makes at least two of us!

I don't know the limit on this new board for each person, but what ever you post will count in your allowed amount of MB space on the server for here, so for your own ability to post pictures you should re-size your pictures to 640x480 pixels or close to that. Even then at some point you may need to delete some. I know I have had to before.

Most of my pictures end up being like 135 KB to maybe 150KB.

I will be dipped in luke warm gook! It worked. The process was nothing like anything described in this thread. I do not remember the details but it involved the "attachments" icon and selection of the "basic loader."

Now to see if I can duplicate it.

Well, not so fast there, bubba :p

While this feature does allow you to quickly pull & post pics straight off your computer files, without the necessity of opening up Photobucket & going thru the copy/paste proceedure .... WHAT happens if you should crash your computer, get corrupted files, and/or lose access to the files that contain those pictures :eek: :confused:

Having Photobucket as your "hosting" site, you don't LOSE those pics !! It is a hosting site, which is basically a "storage" facility, outside of your computer. It also has a sizing option, built in, where you can resize your pics as you upload them ... so no need for any resizing programs.

This new feature IS nice ... and for those that can/want to use it, it is quick & easy. But, think about keeping Photobucket (or whatever hosting site you use) as free insurance, that your pics are safely stored away in the event of a catastrophic crash of your hard drive or file corruption by virus invasion.
