I have studdied this subject for a while and have decided to order a Terrova 80/54, US2, with I-pilot. My problem is, my local Bass Pro is having trouble getting them. Does anyone know where I can get one within a week?? Thanks.

Good luck! Took 3 weeks to get mine.
Feelay, what length did you have yours cut to. I know it'll be different for my boat, but I'm thinking 48" shaft.
I bought mine back in March and the cheapest place I could find back then was anchor express.com
Took about 3 weeks to get it in though. Guess they're pretty popular!
iboats.com plus you may want to try the 54" first BEFORE you cut the shaft. It has an adjustable collar on the shaft that will allow you to make it any depth to want. If you fish form the middle-back of your boat alone most of the time then the 54" may be perfect for bigger lakes in windy conditions. I-boats carries the 45" shaft - no cutting required.

Did you try Grizzly Jig Maj?
Wannabe...
Maj, I cut 10" off the 60" shaft to make it 50". Like yikes said, you want to check and see if the 54" will work before cutting. If it doesn't hang outside the boat too far when stowed, longer is better. I don't think you would be happy with the 45" shaft.
What model did u go with maj.?
I got the 80lb 54" and I'm glad I did not have it cut off any. Tried it out Sun afternoon on the Rez, with many rec boaters making lot of waves, running the TM from the console and the TM raised about a foot, it came out of the water several times. Thanks Yikess and Feelay for recommending "don't cut it". I really liked the performance but the foot control is a bit "stiff". I-pilot is due in this week so that won't matter any more.
majflyboy, do you haul your boat around with the cover much? If so, have you tried putting it on.
That jutting out the front 6 or so inches makes the cover a tight fit.
That and the foot pedal controls is about the only "negatives" that I've noticed with this motor.
I can live with either if the i-pilot meets my expectations though.
Sty, I don't have a cover. I keep the boat in the garage, which is why I had to get the quick release. Here are a couple pics, the first is with TM secured to the quick release, 2nd is released and pushed back a little.

I have seen a "fix" for the stiff foot control somewhere on a forum, like using a longer screw or something. I'll have to search that subject when I have more time. All that being said, I'm really happy that I bought the Terrova. BTW, the US2 works really well with my HB 788 that's mounted on the bow, and, I can read it when running the TM from the console. It shows me what to expect to see on the 998.
The fix is to buy a pair of screws longer then the factory ones that holds the foot pedal on the foot control. I think mine were about 1/2" longer then the factory ones. These 2 screws put pressure on the 2 springs holding the foot pedal on. Play with how tight you have them to get the pressure you like.
But if does not have enough pressure it will not work right. As there's 2 little screws that has to hit the contacts to keep the motor from turning . If it does not have enough pressure it will turn and keep going. So its a feel game but does make it where it can be used.

Also on that mount. Wonder if they would make a kit with 2 bases for the boat in it? Be nice to be able to take mine and move it back and set it back on the extra base. That or mill me one out of stock.
I like that setup.

Maj,
What is the wire going through the coiled wire and along side the shaft of the TM? I've seen externally mounted ducer wiring going that route. That's not the US2 ducer wiring is it?
Maj, just an fyi....I noticed your depth adjust lock collar is up the shaft. It is a good idea to slide it all the way down when you are done fishing to prevent an accidental deployment of the motor. I have heard of a guy whose motor deployed while he was going down the road, probably didn't lock when he stowed it, but the lock collar being down would have prevented the motor from fully deploying.
