sardis depth question

I figure you guys are getting tired of my questions but here goes another one. I have been pulling my 300s at from 100 to 120 feet back and getting a few. could I be pulling too deep??? A friend went with me and caught some at 75 feet back but no more than me. Last trip I got into several small catfish. Was it because I was too deep? Lastly, I have a couple of boxes full of every color 300 but put a pink on front pole , black bubble gum on back and grenada shad or mad cow on the middle. Partner starts with a different pink on front, black on back and middle is either black bubble gum or mad cow. He starts at 80, 100,120 while I start at 75, 110, 140. We never have figured 'em out to where we would change to duplicate baits and depths. Seems we catch 4-5 on every pole. Will they get more specific later on or are they now and we aren't smart enough to see it??
Lastly redux, I didn't go today or yesterday because I still worry about the wind. Supposedly it was easterly. That has always been a killer for me plus I know that an east wind can create problems for smaller boats. Did I mess up by not going and waiting til sunday? Well, of course I did because I could have gone both days. Thanks.

I watch my fish finder. Crappie follow the shad......so I look for shad and crappie......what ever depth they are at I use my bandit depth chart and adjust my line so I am pulling right with them or a couple ft. Above. Crappie will come up a couple ft. To hit a bait but they will not go down.......so its important not to go too deep and get below them.

Gomer you just keep asking cause i am learnin too. Last weekend buddy pulled at 140 and caught fish while we caught at 90. Figure that one out. I am a newbie but maybe it gets the bait further away from the boat. I have pulled them long lines and not hit bottom when according to the depth chart i should have! With that said i did catch some slimmers the further out i let my baits. Be there tomorrow with wife to give it a go in the red express.

Like Old "G" said...depends on what you see on the screen. However, I ain't scared to pulled 150-180' of line with cranks...

my cheap lowrance shows fish from top to bottom near mouth of clear creek east to coontown. may be shad but the crappies are mixed in. lots of time the screen is blacked out. I am too lazy to put my 'bird si over into my boat and I have it rigged up so it would be easy to do.Just don't seem to need it so far. use the navionics app on my phone and just look for the 29 foot contour. then check my little unit that came on my xpress.

If you are catching 4 or 5 fish on each pole you are about at the right depth.
There are 6-8 good weather forecast websites out there. Just keep looking until you find one that tells you what you want to hear, then go fishing. You have to get to the lake to get blowed off of it! :ThumbsUp

We used mainly black

We've been catching at Sardis between19 to 29 feet of water. Bandits between 90 ft to 150, and we were catching mostly on pink yesterday. Chrome, black, and Sardis gold worked last weekend. If something doesn't work change it up

Yall sho is letting out alot of line, I havent had out more than 85 foot all year. I run my poles where the end of the poles on almost on the water so the line is in the water pretty quick I guess. Have caught a BUNCH with just 30 or 35 feet of line out.
