Got air in the line while on lake. If that happen again take hose off until water runs out of pump and re-hook hose. If that doesn't work take head off unit and get the rock out of it.
Intake plugged
What Mr Jim said!
One possiblity is air lock. Try turning it on, putting motor in reverse and goosing a little bit. The pressure will help prime it and it'll work from then on. My G3 used to do that sometimes.
If air lock is the issue, reseating the hoses usually will help.
Have you visually inpected the impeller? Lot of times, the impeller will crack and it'll spin on the shaft or the shaft will get line on it and slow it down enough so it can't prime too.
Other than that, and inpsecting for blockage in the hose, replace it.

I did take the motor out and inspect the impeller and it appeared to be ok. This air lock thing may be the problem. It did this back in march and I took a water hose to it and shot water in the intake thinking it had trash in it . I am going to do that again this afternoon and it will either clear any trash or fix this air lock situation you are talking about.
Thanks
Mine gets air lock all the time. I can unseat the canister then lock it back down and that usually does the trick.
If you do have to replace....consider replacing with a bilge pump as opposed to an aerator if you can find the bilge to match up like you need. Bilge is designed to be self priming. Aerator depends on positive water pressure to prime in a lot of cases. Depending on the intake and discharge angles, that can be hard to match up and on some brands of pumps makes no difference at all. Just sump'n to keep you confused a little more. Your welcome.

i have to turn mine on and put the boat in reverse every time, like wannabe said, to prime it.
