Just talked to Humminbird about a software problem I am having with my 2 units. I have a 787 on the front and a 798 on the console. I downloaded both updates for my units on different cards. Went to both units and downloaded hardware as instructed. I kept getting a message on my 798 that the 787 needed upgrading. I went through this mess 3 times with no success. I call Eufala, AL and the nice lady tells me that the inter-link will not work due to the fact that I have 2 different versions of software. I have to download an older version for my 798 and install it so both units will work together. It appears that the 787 is on it's way out and no future sofeware will be available. This means I can buy new units or use what I have. That ain't right. I wonder what Lowrance would have to say? May have to float a loan with WB and purchase a HDS10 and a HDS8.
