i bought some wax worms for a company called grubco.com and used them one spring and they seamed to work really well i meet some guys that were using maggots that they had bought from grubco and they were tearing up the crappie at lake Thunderbird and so i bought the sampler pack and i came with superworms, maggots, wax worms, and meal worms, but i had the best luck with the wax worms
Waxies are good bait, but they're a little fragile. For me, maggots are #1 and mealworms are #2.
I want to use more mealworms.I have used them once when a friend bought some on a bluegill trip and the gills tore them up.I had some ordered but the extreme heat here were not a good idea for the mail thing.They are cheap enough.I'll be getting some.I like G's set up.
If they put ice in the package and overnight them to you, it shouldn't be a problem. That's how I get my maggots shipped to me. Atlanta's not quite Arizona, but it does get pretty hot here in the summer. I haven't lost a maggot yet! ;)Quote:

We must have some persnickity Crappie around here :D .... I don't think I've caught but ONE Crappie on a Mealworm :p and I can't remember ever catching one on a Wax Worm. Heck ... I can't even get Bluegill, or any other Sunfish species, to take much interest in a Mealworm :eek: ... but, they sure don't let a Waxworm survive long enough to drown ... LOL !! Maybe that's why I don't catch Crappie on them ..... too many hungry Bream out there :D

Here where I fish gills there are no crappie.Gills,bass and channel cats,any live bait has not a chance.I don't care what it is,lol.
