JJ MicroMaster Need Some Feedback

Trying some different things here on the micro as you know not that easy to work on but what you think man these 1/100 on a #12 are small

Have a little flash coming off of this one with some small orange chenille for the body

Same chenille for the body but place some marabou in for the tail, yes the tail rolled a little on me while getting it tight in place didnt see it right away but something different for a #12 hook

Last one is kip tail hard to get the color to show in the picture it is a really dark purple almost black, as you can see had a hard time trimming up around the jig head.

Was just playing around but really what do you think about the first attempts on these micro size jigs. I think I need a smaller pair of hands when doing these for you are really working on a limited amount of space. Check them out even tried to pull the tails and kip off not moving so i think I at least have that down. Give me a few more days at this and I think they will darn near as good as yours at least that is the goal as good as or better.

i think they look ok Doc"on that last one" if you start your wrap around the neck down about a 1/16 of an inch then apply your material",you shouldn't need to trim it at all buddy"...

Grub Thanks I am just trying to find a magnifying glass for these buggers are hard for me to see. I get what you are saying on the black/purple start the neck and add the material after the neck has been started. Will give that a try and see if it hold the kip tail in palce as well when finished. Thanks

Looks good here!!!! You guys think a size 12 jig hook is small try a size 18 or 20 fly tying hook!!!! Thats small.

I am having a hard enough time just seeing the #12 to work on couldnt even imagine trying a #18 or #20 without a good magnifying glass to look through and it would have to be a bigg'in

Look good DC, maybe a little long on the tails but that is my preference.

I like the marabou tail one the best. It would catch fish here for sure.

Smallest I have ever tied was #24 scud. Didn't even think the fish could see them because I could barely see them to tie them. But the trout loved them. Might have to see if a panfish will too.

Was just giving it a shot at these little gritters and I think you are right on the tails but still fine tuning what I am looking for here. Trying to get the marabou and hackle to work on these little jigs gonna take some time but I will get there sooner or later.

I know this doesn't make it easier but try palmering the marabou on for the tails. It will be a lot more secure. Just tie them down flat if you want to or wrap the chenille over them to reduce their flare.

I am slowly working towards doing that not sure if I am there yet perhaps I will give it a try later tonight and see how it turns out. I know it will be allot more secure that way

Doc . one of My favorite ty's on those little bugger's is to start My thread and carry it even to bthe hook point then put about 12 rap's to build a knot then back to the head I use My hackle plier's to hold the kip I hold it even with the front of the head dark towards the eye light on the bottom if you 2 tone it I olny pu 3 - 4 raps per color then I start towards the knot wraping the body pretty tight just short of breaking the thread I use the knot and tension to control the flare of My tail when it's flared even with the hook point I start back towards the head to flare the kip here ounce I have it like I like it I build up the body to a barrel shape whip it seal and trim I done real well on a black haed pink kip black or chartreuse thread if I get time I'll post one tomorrow.
