If you want to support something that will help, support the 11" limit. The biologist recommended the limit for KY lake stay at 30. he also stated KY and East an Middle Tn all will require their own surveys and regulations. No one group of people own KY lake . Make it as enjoyable to everyone, for as long as possible.
Take deer hunting, henty county, you can take 1000's. In another county it may be 50. Each place is different.
I'm not saying anything of the sort. I don't have a dog in this fight. I'm just expressing my opinion that bordering waters should be equally limited (creel/size) so as to make it more fair to anglers on both sides. That's more towards agreeing with you, than taking sides.
Both states are economically helped by the influx of anglers from the other. I was of the impression that it was you that was wanting to "punish" Ky anglers, for fishing in TN waters ... by your statement that KY anglers should have to purchase non-res boat registrations. KY doesn't require it of TN anglers.
My "support" of a 20fish limit in TN's portion of the lake ... was just arbitrary, as I was just considering making it equal to anglers of both states. I just don't think it's sound practice to have confusing/different creel/size limits on a body of water, just because it runs across state lines. If it were up to me, I'd say let either state's anglers fish the entire lake ... with the creel & size limits being equal for the whole body of water. But, it's not ... and I don't fish there enough to offer any qualified opinion on "what's best" for the TN portion of the lake. I've never fished any part of KY lake, up river of the 68 bridge ... never had to. When I did fish KY Lake, Jonathan Creek was as far up river as I needed to go. Most of my successful Crappie fishing trips were at Barkley Lake, anyway ;)
On the other hand ... I do economically impact the TN coffers, to the tune of several hundred dollars a year, when I make my two per year trips to Watts Bar Lake. Food/lodging/license/gas ... the Tn taxes of 9+%, plus the added taxes on lodging ... and all for the chance to catch a maximum of 15/day x2 days (legal possession limit) of 10" or larger Crappie. I do so, gladly ... even though I pass by several perfectly good KY lakes, to get there. I'm neither greedy nor jealous ... I just like Watts Bar Lake, the local people, and the adventure of the trip. I've been making this trip for over 15yrs, at least once a year ... and sometimes 3 times in a year. Greater regulation (ie - boat registration fee / higher length limit) would give me cause to consider staying closer to home. I can fish a local lake, with a 30/day creel & no size limit, that's only a 45min drive from home. And I have caught 2lb Crappie from it, & know it well (having fished it most all my life). Other Kentuckians may see fit to do the same ... so be careful what you wish for. ;)
