Just thought I would pass this on. I tied a little 1/32 oz. jig on a small hook and when I finally put it on my line the other day it almost floats. I had no idea that rabbit fur would have that effect, but it did. Once it got wet it was almost floating along so anyone wanting a jig that sinks very slow that will work.

That's interesting. Could it be because there was air trapped in the fur? Next time you go down try wetting it then rubbing it between your fingers and see if it'll sink. Either way, it'll still be great to cast. I love slow sinking lures, which is one of the main reasons I don't cast jigs too often.
rabbit hair is great, it just flows in the water and has lots of movement, i hadnt used it on crappie jigs but i use it for striper bucktails and muskie spinnerbaits and spinners and works great, will definately try it on crappie jigs now, i got a ton of it in every color imaginable
I am just curious.....does anyone use deer hair to tie jigs with? It seems like the deer tail would work pretty good.
Bucktail jigs kill the Walleyes on every lake up here.... Blk/Prp are the key color on most... Here are a few i did last fall..Quote:

Bucktails work good, will still move in cold water, holds up better than feathers. I've been using them for along time, look at these.Quote:

Not with deer body hair (used for poppers), but bucktail works great. I make saltwater bucktails with it on 1/4+ oz. heads. Check out my website for pictures. I have caught crappie on 3/8th oz. bucktails though... Go figure.Quote:
