Would fishing in the rain be productive? I know cloud cover is good but what about rain?
Just wondering as it looks like a good chance of rain for the first day this week I can get out and wet a hook.

I seem to have my best luck just before it starts to rain. There's been several times I'll be out fishing and 30-60 minutes before the storm rolls in, the fish will start biting like crazy. Once that rain comes, it's like a switch was turned off.
I don't mind fishing in the rain as long as it's not coming down too hard. That can be miserable. The fish don't mind it, so you can still catch them.
Just make sure you have a good rain suit handy. You gotta take advantage of every fishing opportunity.
Ditto on the prior to the rain fishing. Seems like once the rain starts all I get is wet.
Still if that’s the day you’ve got then I’d just pack the rain gear and see how it goes.
Let us know!
Everybody knows that fish don't bite in the rain ... they don't like to get wet !:D
Like's already been said I think, all I've ever got fishing in the rain was wet. I've caught fish up until it started raining steady, then they seemed to shut down. I've tried it several times, hot and cold weather.
Rain and cold weather... a fellow'd be a lot better off acting sensible, and be standing in a bayou, about hip-deep leaning agin' a tree and duck hunting!

I've caught limits of trout in the rain, and even in the snow but as far as everything else goes I have never had much luck in the rain.
fish the bridges when it rains. All the crappie pull up under the bridges to stay out of the weather.
I say it all depends. On what I am not sure. I have fished in rainy weather more than once and sometimes it is great before the rain then they just quit, other times I have not been doing well and then start raining and they go nuts during the rain and quit again after the rain. Then again, I wasn't doin well before or during, but got goin after. Seems to me that the times they bit good during the rain it was just light showers.
well I have caught some nice crappie in a slow rain, But hang on to your rods because the big cats like it too:D
