About a hundred years ago I used to fish with a friend in Kentucky for crappie. We always used wax worms. Last year I got back in to fishing after 20 years off and live in Huntsville area. I have not been able to find wax worms down here. Anybody know the reason?

Most people who use live bait around here use minnows,I personally have never tried waxworks for crappie and have been fishing for crappie for over 25 years

The 8 time National champions use them ! We have them at several gas stations or used too! I haven’t checked lately!
I use them for brim and shell crackers. Have caught crappie on them. They are expensive. Maybe why a lot of people don't have them
Some people call them bee moth also. I've always used them for gills and are my go to bait for them. If you can't find them local Bass Pro has a canned version that works pretty good too.

Check pet shops. They carry them for birds and reptiles.
I get most of my bait at pet shops.

Use em a lot in Illinois I consider them a bigger crappie nibble and they stay on the hook
