Thanks for the info moecarama. I think I’ll give them a try to see if these Alabama crappie like wax worms. If they do any good, I’ll let you know.

I luv fishing with the waxies. We used them extensively in Ohio especially when Ice fishing. Haven’t found any down here though. Think this year I’m gonna buy a thousand and give it a shot for the crappie. If nothin else I know the crackers and gills will kill em

I have used a waxworm soft plastic imitator and just put some "Slab Sauce" on it.

I fought those things the whole time I was a beekeeper. Hated them. I didn't know I was fighting fish bait.

I wonder how you keep them from pupating if you can't store them in the fridge? I don't know how I'd store them at 60 degrees

I grew up ice fishing, that's what we tipped our jigs with; then in the summer I would take them to Ms and fish some farm ponds ya had to hide to bait the hook!

You can keep them in the fridge but not for long. Most refrigerators are too cold to keep them very long. However, all the waxies I buy are stored in small refrigerators. The pet stores just don't keep them very cold.
