Driftmaster Crow Foot

I purchased the Driftmaster Crow Foot. Pretty simple to put together and install on boat. This "no drill" rod holder is designed for your 3/4" boat pedestal to fit through a pre-drilled hole and into your deck receptacle (for lack of better words) in order to secure the Crow Foot to boat. My pedestal is threaded and with the added width (minimal)of bar (of Crow Foot base) my pedestal threads will not reach threads in deck receptacle and tighten up. Hope this makes sense. Essentially, a boat pedestal with a longer threads would work. The pedestal fits down into the hole, however without threading the seat is wobbly and I fear it will damage receptacle. Dave at Driftmaster stated this was the first time the product did not properly fit. I have a Triton Tr200.

Any thoughts on how to resolve would be appreciated. Thanks

Take your pedestal post to a machine shop and have them make the threaded pin longer....add the distance to it that your crow foot base is thick.

Thanks for your response and please excuse my ignorance. So, a machine shop can add to the threaded end? I will ask around and see if I can find a shop nearby. Thank you.

My guess it would be easier to pull the seat base up and have the insert shortened on the bottom side and re weld the nut back on, if you were going to do that I would replace the base as well with a new one. No need for a machine shop just a decent welder, only problem is not sure if carpet covers your base or not.

Good idea.....and its also possible that all he needs is to replace that base with a new one.....I had to replace one of mine because the threads were in the bottom of the bushing and it was bronze or brass...very soft...half the threads were wallerd out from the post getting loose and then rocking in the hole. If you do buy a new base...make sure its threaded as they come both ways...threaded and unthreaded. Thinking more on it...I think I would try that first.

The threads are below deck...so I guess the base is below deck and definitely under carpet. I appreciate the responses.

I have a suggestion, take the post you have, measure from base of post to end of threads. Then go somewhere that sells seat posts. Measure what they have and see if you can find one that is a inch or so longer. That would solve your problem.
