I’ve used a American Angler (the blue one) for the past year. It’s been OK, but it’s seen it’s better days. Still works but I think it’s not going to live thru another season. I bought the Rapala HD for when the Angler goes out. I heard it was supposed to be good. You know Danbo, they don’t make them knives like they used to.
I’ve got the rapala deluxe and it is a great knife.
The new American angler is a bit expensive but a much better knife than the blue ones.
Put a bigger motor in it and I think they went back to a metal or heavier material for drive gear. When they went to China for their knifes a few years ago they really cheapened them up. Especially the blue ones. My neighbor has one that hadn't been used 3-4 times. Had it in his truck this summer. Got it out to use at Enid one day in the summer. Started to clean a fish, blades move for a minute and quit but motor would run. I took it apart couple days later and plastic gears were slick. They were so soft that heat in truck had melted them. My 25 year old AA has metal gears and my gray one has heavy plastic gears. Old black one still my go to but she is slowing down.
I like my Black & Decker from Wal-Mart, good knife.. bought mine on sale for $9.95

x2 on Mr Twister. Mine is about 7 years old and still going strong. Had to replace blades several times but that's it.
