Larry, nothing like fresh muscadines, except maybe figs, blueberries, blackberries, strawberries, pears, peaches, satsumas etc. etc. I think you get the idea. But yes muscadines are great. Each year I freeze a few gallon bags of them to eat later in the year. I take them out the freezer, put them in a small bowl and run some warm water on them just to defrost the skins then eat them while still frozen. It's like muscadine popsickles.
A couple of weeks ago I visited a friend in Sunset La. and he had one variety that was ripening. I picked about half a gallon to eat fresh over the next few days. I'll be going back to pick more when most of the crop is ripening.

I love muscadine jelly...when I was a youngster back in Jackson, ms. I would go down to the Pearl River swamps and load up on them to bring home.....then, my mother would make jelly....great on hot bisquits....
We just finished a jar of muscadine jelly that some generous friend gave us.

I still have 10 gallons (60 pounds) left in the freezer from last season and a new harvest getting ready for picking.
I love those things!
George it sounds like it's time for you to start making wine and jelly or eat them frozen.

We have picked 19 gal. off of my vines so far. They started turning about 2 weeks ago, which is about 2 weeks early for this
area. We made 4 cases of jelly, gave the rest away and started looking for people to come pick them. There is still 15 or 20
gal. out there. We try to pick them all every year. When they go to the ground and ferment, they draw gnats bad. Some of
them will wind up in the house. Wife can't stand them landing on her tea glass.
Man I need to get my hands on some muscadines to make jelly with!
