Nice one! Perch are SO pretty. I wish we had more of them here in the south.
Although I've never had one, I've heard they're delicious.
In Canada, we were told to stick our fingers down their throats and pop their air sack when we caught them and throw them back in the water. Pelicans, eagles, muskie, beavers...they all came and ate them. Don't know why, but we were told to do this with any one we caught, no matter what size.
Nice colors
Beavers??? Now I've seen a deer eating a fish before, but a beaver? And why would you throw back a fish that you've virtually killed by popping it's air bladder? Did they consider the yellow perch a trash fish? They are delishous!Quote:

when you are only fishing in 8-10 feet of water the air sacks do not expand on the way up. That will generally only happen in water over 30 feet deep.
Nice perch! I'm targeting them this year....I think they are one of the coolest looking fish.
Man,i wish i had the guts to ice fish...I don't like the cold...lol
Maybe whoever told you that wanted you to throw them out so they could come by and get em!:DQuote:
