Hot Pink ??

I'm having problems getting the color to match the hot pink from bass pro.Ive tried a white base coat then the hot pink but it's about the same shade as just using the hot pink. This is Pro tec Hot pink. What paint is everyone using

I'm using a fluorescent pink I get from TJ's tackle that seems to be a little brighter than the Pro Tec. Plus I mix a little 200% clear from Rosie's powder coating with it. Not trying to be smart but I bet you put a plastic on it and the crappie won't care.

Your probably correct. But believe it or not they seem to prefer the brighter pink in the lake I fish. I thought Tj's uses Protec paint. How much clear do I add to say 2 oz

I have Pro-Tec pink, but also have some light pink also. Not sure what Bass Pro uses though. I think TJ uses mostly Pro-Tec which is CSI.

Here is how I do it, I start with the amount that I use in my cup on my fluid bed, maybe a oz or less, then start with a 1/4 teaspoon let it mix real good then paint a couple and cure. I'm looking to gain depth to the look and a higher gloss. It's like cooking and using seasonings, just add a little at a time until it looks good to you. I also get me a medical bottle or something else to put that mix in to keep it seperate. When you get it where you want it write down the mix, like 2 tablespoons of pink and 1 teaspoon of clear. That way you can repeat it the next time you mix a batch. It will change how a color like pink looks. Don't get carried away with the clear. I have found the more clear I add the more it will stick to and kind of glob up on the forceps I use to heat my jig. Not a problem because I know what to expect. And I'm making the assumption you have a fluid bed. If not it's really hard to get the clear and color to mix good. I have found that fooling with powder paint is intriguing when you start trying to change color's and tints. But it's fun the more you do it. Also with the clear you can really stretch your paint if your painting a lot of one color and buying by the small bottle.

Have you tried adding a little fl. orange to your pink?

I use the same Clear and mostly to get powder paint that is more thick to fluff easier. Some paint just is too hard to get the air to flow through very well, but adding a little Clear will fix that right up. There are a few colors that you have to be careful with adding Clear, like Chrome is not one I add to and there are a couple more that don't like the outcome. Some guys make their paint 50/50, but I never add that much personally as there is no need to add that much IMHO and am sure since some do that they will tell you they like it better that way. Like most things in this hobby, it's all personal what and how you do it.
