Jig heads and shoulder surgery.

Trapped in the house this past Saturday by the snow so I made 100 1/8oz jig heads and 100 1/16oz. Bennett turned me on to these Matzuo sickle hooks which I love. I was having issues with big crappie shaking the hook out of their mouths but these sickle hooks are awesome.

I use size #1 hooks. I buy them through Do It jig molds. Item 6201.

However, its going to be a while until I can use them as I just had shoulder surgery this past Monday.

They repaired my supraspinatus tendon as expected, however, they also found the infraspinatus torn as well (4 tendons make up your rotator cuff) so that had to be repaired and there was also a lot of inflamed tissue which surprised the doc, which I believe he removed. They gave me a nerve block which is a shot in my neck which numbed my entire left arm for 16 hours. Originally I was suppose to be in a sling for 6 weeks but due to the extensive work the doc had to do, he changed it to 8 weeks. Hope to be back on the water in March.

No excuse, you still have one good arm.

Ok George, you can't fish but you can still come down to the Bash and chew the fat with us. Where do you get you lead at. Going to pour my own jigs also as few people sell them now. I found some at Lowe's on line but kind of pricey. I work at a car dealer but they say not to use wheel weights:mad: Miss you and that big red Lund down at Northwest. Get well quick buddy.

That leaves the Bash crappie division wide open. Are you left handed? Or is that injury due to the constant slapping off the opposite shoulder as you size up your opponent? I remember Black Jack Mulligan used to do that a lot.

Wishing you a speedy recovery. I just got out of a sling (4 weeks) on Dec 29. That sling will let you know when you are on the way to a good heal...it will bug the crap out of you! Good healing to you, George.

I have worked on medical x-ray equipment for nearly 30 years now and lead was used for counter weight in the tube stands which hold the x-ray tube as well as the wall stand for chest x-rays, so whenever we removed an old room for disposal I would take the lead. Unfortunately, many years ago they switched to metal plates but I have enough lead to last me a long time.

Really nice looking jigheads, I love the sickle hooks as well but prefer the smaller #10 or #8 size, even for the 1/8oz. Sorry to hear they found more damage than anticipated for your shoulder, facing similar surgery next week. Mine is my left (casting) shoulder as well. You may want to try some powder paint for those jig heads. Real easy to do and fun when you need something to do. Some days it does not matter if they are painted or not but some days it does. Hope your recovery goes well.

Oh Wow Man! That has to Suck. Hope everything heals up good and faster than they predict. I know You will because of the good shape You are in but make sure You keep on that physical therapy when the time comes. Have a friends mom who trained for year in Karate. Black belt. She beat Chuck Norris's third best student in a tourney. Bad little woman. Anyway now that she has some age on her, She has had surgeries on her knees and shoulders. All those years of Karate took its toll. She has always done like the Dr said to do with therapy and gets around fine. will be glad to see You back out on the water.CF

Dang Tap, here I've been telling everybody you were indestructible. My dad had that done, said the rehab was worse than both knee replacements. Take your time healing and do what they tell you for rehab.
