First time on Nimrod
I turkey hunted this morning, struck out, then went to Nimrod. I like the lake. It will take some time on the water to get proficient. I managed to catch a few black crappie and some white crappie. The bite was slow for me. I caught lots of goggle eyes, bream, bass and managed 10 crappie.

Looks like enough to cook for supper at Turkey camp . The Black Crappie here are mostly on the small side . You earned those in the wind yesterday .

Thanks. I did notice the size issue. I also found it odd that the blacks were on rock structure and the whites were on wood cover.

That will eat! Way to tough it out with the wind and make something happen.
-
That will definately make a pretty good mess. Sometime it does take a little trial and error to learn new waters.

The trial and error is going to be on hold for a while. My transmission went out hauling the boat home from Nimrod. Looks like I will be off the water until I can get a different truck. The old rig has been a good one, 1999 with 287,000 miles on it. It is just worn out.

That's a great catch for 1st trip on that water...Sorry to hear about your truck!
-
Not bad at all (on the fish). Sucks about your truck? What kind of truck is it? New transmission is cheaper than a new truck.

Thanks Matt. The old rig is a 1999 Honda Passport. The thing is just worn out. I wish I could put a transmission in it it be all good. I am a mechanic for a living and even with me doing the work the repairs needed exceed the value of the old thing. I replaced the transmission in my car a year ago and the transmission in my son's car two weeks ago. I used salvaged parts that have warranty. I will get going again as soon as possible. I had planned to upgrade the boat but a truck has to come first.
