Rod choices??

Is it best to have different setups for everything from spider rigging to pulling cranks or is there a good all around rod and length.

I was looking at southern pro or b&m pro trolling rods in 14-16' but not sure.

I'm a believer in the B-n-M PST's (Pro Staff Trolling) rods. I long line jigs, pull cranks, and spider rig with them. I change reels and line weights for each application but they are a good all around rod to cover all the bases. 14' is about max length unless you are spider rigging real skinny water and need the baits way out front. I have found that Monk's in NC has pretty good pricing when ordering multiple qty's. Just my two pennies.

I have PST and southern crappie. This would be my choice for all around.

What he said. the pro staff trolling rod is hard to beat for an all around application rod. you can do all of the above with them. i prefer different length rods when long lining and cranking, but you could make all 14 footers work if you had to.

Thank you abarkley. When long lining or pulling cranks i run a 8', 12', 16' stagger on both side so I am covering at least a 32' swath in the water. When spider rigging I run all 14's unless in real skinny water. 16' of pole is a lot to handle with a decent size crappie unless you have a net man.

I prefer the B-n-M PST I have 8-10-12 &14s. I also longline, troll cranks and spider rig with them. Like PW1 I will change the reels and line weights for the different techniques. Can't beat them! I also buy from Monk's
