Lowrance!!!!!

I have been a Lowrance user for quite a while so I hope what I am about to say is wrong. I spent about $ 6oo.oo on a Elite 7 HDI. I have had problems from the beginning. I have talked with CS and was sent a new transducer.(no help)I have tried adjustments, soft resets, hard resets,and various speeds. Nothing seems to help. Today I went about 200 yards with NOTHING on the screen. I think it is the unit, which by this time is out of warrrenty. To call CS again and send in my unit will probably get me an offer for a new unit(with chirp) Is this the old game of keep the buyer paying. I would GLADLY go back to my x 510 that I sold to buy this unit. This unit has never produced the pictures or hype that it was supposed to have. GPS and 2d seem to work O.K.. I realize this is nothing but a computer, but a little better testing would have prevented this and would have made a satisfied customer. If I was to buy another unit, I believe I would look at anothe rsupplier. I have a friend with an Elite 5 HDI and is having problems very close to mine. Miss my X 510 C. Look on CL for the x510c, might find a good used one.

I had problems with my Elite 7 and I finally got them to swap it out for an HDS7 touchscreen. That unit is the only one that will swap out transparently with the Elite. I had to pay some difference but I got the Touch 7 for about half what it sells for and it is one super unit. So much easier to use the touch screen. My unit was still in warranty when they swapped it out, but since Gen 3 is out now you might could get them to swap a Gen2 out for you.
You need to talk to someone in customer service, not tech support. After I had jumped through a dozen hoops to no avail with the tech guy, he transferred me to customer service and when they offered me the HDS7 touch I jumped on it and have really enjoyed it.

Jason. Thanks for the query. The serial# is #104979402. I can't find any information on the transducer, but it has been several months ago. ...... UPDATE: Talked with a gentleman in customer service at Lowrance, I believe his name was Juan,very nice and professional. Since my unit was out of warranty (3 13-2013) He offered a replacement for $250.00 since they have some of these in stock. Since my 2D and GPS seem to work o.k.. The question: ( Is down scan really worth $250) I am sorry that I didn't get to evaluate down scan through this unit but I feel that I am better off than when I had the X 510 C since it didn't have GPS. Since I can't get DI, I will disconnect the 83/200-455/800 HDI transducer and connect back my HST-WSBL, I think I will be able to have GPS as well as 2D..... Jason, I again thank you for your concern The reason this was not sent on pm was I wanted everyone to know that I bear no hard feelings towards Lowrance. and would not think twice about purchasing a unit at a later date......I know of others who love their Elite 7 HDI units. You are missing a lot by not having down scan on that unit. The skimmer transducer works fine on my Elite 7. I would go back and do a complete reset and check every setting and connection. I would never be satisfied with a unit that did not work like it should. Good luck!
