ThreeWayMan, Thanks for your comments.I have done both a soft and a hard reset as well as changing various settings. It's hard to tell if the settings are having any effect when there is nothing on the screen. I would love to have this feature and believe this concept would be a very valuable tool in the location of fish.I have read about Lowrance customer service not being good. It is NOT TRUE! They have been very supportative. I just feel, to spend another $250 is not worth the bucks.....Thanks again for taking the time to reply....crappie1133
crappie 1133- Keep us posted on what you find out. I have an Elite 7 HDI with pretty much the same issue as yours. Last time out, I checked the DI just as soon as the unit booted up and got some pretty decent images. A couple of hours later later I switched back to the DI page to check something and got nothing but a black screen. This appears to be a hardware issue, maybe due to heat, but it could possibly be a processor issue with the higher frequencies. If there is a software patch, I'd sure like to know. Thanks- M.
Mountain Folk, Sorry for your problems. It's nice to know I am just not fabricating a story. I can do a reset and it will play great.....then nothing. As you say it seems to get hot and you get a blank screen. It makes you wonder if the 2D and GPS is up to par. CS at Lowrance offered a replacement for additional cost......not sure it is worth it. It has got to be a unit problem, but it's over my head. I hope your unit is still under warranty. Mine was not.....Good Luck on a cure....crappie1133
