Monster hooked on a Crappie jig

I was on the Petit Jean River today when the hook up happened. But not the biggun you think. i reached up in a tree to tie out my cage of Bream i was going to use for Flathead bait. Something pulled on my arm and it turned out someone had lost a Crappie jig. Sorry no photos but it was buried in the underside of my arm above the elbow. I pulled out my knife and cut the line. Not sure whether to go on fishing or quit. Saw i could not get it out and decided to load the canoe and head home.
I figured Kena would not remove it and just send me to the doctor. I pulled into a friend's shop down the road and asked him for help. I had seen on Youtube where they tied a string to it and jerked the hook out. Well I could not make myself do it and Mike and his boy would not try. We decided to push the hook back through the skin. I pushed till the point came through but had trouble getting barb through. Mike cut off the hook once I pushed it out and I could them back it out.
I have removed several hooks from my hands and feet , as well as for other folks. It is easier on someone else or in a tougher spot with easy access. This was not any fun , glad the hook was clean and not rusty.
Wondering just how many have removed hooks buried in them or others and how they did it ?

That string method is the best. Don't understand why people are so squeamish about using it. I have used it on myself and other people. I have also had to cut out a couple of big salt water hooks for folks. That's not fun at all.

i have removed several from others and a real deep treble hook from my hand all with the string method you are talking about, loop the string under the hook and push the eye off the hook down a give a quick jerk and wallah!!!! out it will come

I have seen the trick your talking about, but have never tried it.

Last time I got one stuck past the barb I just got a hold of it as close to the skin as I could with a pair of needle nose pliers and let her rip. Basically the same as the string method. I was surprised at how little it hurt.

I used pliers to pull a treble hook from my thumb.

Ice down the skin (effected area) with an Ice cube this will numb the nerve ending's and stop pain.... then use the string method to remove hook. No pain at all.

Make sure your tetanus shot is up to date. Sure hate to see you get lockjaw and can't eat any mud bugs or crappie again!!! Good for 10 years.

Ive had three past the barb including a zara spook that hung on my leg for a couple hours while these stripers continued to school. Grandaddy got em all out with the string method. Painless quick simple easy way out. The zara spook hook did begin to hurt after being in my leg about an hour but surprisingly prior to that i could just feel pressure.

Never hurt but suprizing how tough your skin is trying to push a barbed hook through !
