Seal it in water. Seems to work well for a long time. Plus helps get it frozen if I take it to somebody.
Vacuum pack. Takes about 1/4 of the space if you do it right.
Although I plan to get a vacuum sealer at some point I have been freezing in water for a long time and it works well for me. I fill the sink with water and seal the bags under water after purging all the air out. I find it easier to get the air out with less water in the ziploc that way.
I've been using the same vacuum sealer for about 10 years now. The thing I like most about it is that you can thaw fish out in a sink if cold water in less than 5 minutes. I keep fish in mine for up to one year. The way I look at it is if you can't eat them within a years time then you should probably learn the catch and release method it works pretty good some days.
I always put mine in quart ziplocks and fill with water. Have never had any problems with freezer burn.
Well I've done it both ways, was just wanting some insight and opinions on how you guys do it and why. I never thought about thawing time, vacuum sealed would definitely have an advantage there. Some good points made! Thanks!
