How to save 15 bucks

When you break a couple inches off the tip of your rod.
Materials needed;
small electric soldering iron,
needle nosed pliers,
1/16 drill bit,
epoxy of what ever kind fits your taste.

Heat the line guide on the tip of the rod with the soldering iron and remove the short piece of the rod from the guide. Use needle nosed pliers to do this due to the heat.

Ream the guide out by hand using the 1/6 drill bit, or what ever size bit that fits the guide comfortably.

Once the inside of the guide is clean, mix the epoxy and coat the long end of the rod and slide on the guide.

Hope this helps someone. Of course if you are rich and famous, you can just give Grizzly jig a call and get a new tip for 15 bucks.

Did the same thing not too long ago. Only difference was I used Super Glue to attach the eyelet to the rod. Works just fine, and I saved $30 (Sam Heaton Super Sensitive plus shipping) Those rods are pretty fragile.........won't stand up to truck door being slammed on them!! :yikes

I've seen Nimrod fix on the fly with a hot glue stick a lighter. I've broken 3 like that, everytime on a hang up doing something stupid. The other I broke was on an 8 foot and there was no fixing it unless I had a hankering for a 5 ft.:Rofl

Ooops my bad. I thought you were talking about whole tip sections. I keep some of those around myself, but so far have not needed to use due to salvaging the original tip. Grizzly has the whole tip section. They were $15 but have probably gone up. No DIY work needed. Thanks for the link and the rest of the story.:highfive

I looked at a rod tip one time (not mine) in the boat, and broke the tip.

I buy rod tip eyes in bulk . I also carry matches and hot glue sticks in my boat. I have fixed several fishing rods for folks after they knocked out ceramic ring on tip unhanging a jig while we were fishing.

Here is where I bought mine. ROD TIPS/GUIDES Oops they changed policies, must order 100 dollar min . Dang I hate that.

I keep from knocking the ring out by putting a line of super glue, Lock tite brand, around the ring and frame about twice a year.
