I wouldn't skimp out when it comes to yo-yos. The cheap ones miss a lot of fish be cause there trigger mechanisms are setup different. Personally, to me, the only way to go is the White's yo yos. If your any where near toad suck park, that she'll station that sells bait, has the Whites for 26.99 a box. That's the cheapest I've seen the anywhere. The common price is 32 bux a box.
Gotcha on that.. I bought some White's at Wal-mart. I was really talking about the contraption that holds them out of the water. Thanks for the input though. The blackswans use White's as well.
I have used something similar to that before they will catch fish, but the problem you will have is if the wind starts to blow you will have to search the entire lake to find them. Also people love to "borrow" 1 to have a pattern of their own. If I was to buy yo-yo's I would buy Whites and Whites only and tie them to cypress limbs.
Also check pawn shops for yo-yo's that is where the majority of mine came from. People are always pawning the darndest things.
Black Swans cost toooo much. Make your own or use a tree limb, they are free
The bad thing I don't like about yo-yos is if a small fish bites, it's high and dry by the time you get to it. Large fish are at the surface and can become turtle food. I've had both.
Go to www.limbline.com - www.limbline.com\home\portarthur\limbline they are made in AR. I got a few this weekend to try this year.
Im not sure how much the Swans cost, but it would probably be cheaper to make your own, if you have the time.

You can eliminate this by replacing the short tie-line with a longer one. Hang the yo-yos to where the hook barely touches the water when fully retracted. This keeps from pulling the smaller fish out of the water and they can move around enough to keep from becoming turtle food. Just make sure it is high enough to keep a little tension on the hook.

And yard sales. I bought 5 doz from a lady this past weekend for $4 per box that had never been opened before and were in 100% new perfect condition. She was cleaning out a shed that her recently passed husband stored stuff in. They were so old, they didn't have the bar scan code thing on the box.
