Man, i've tried my hardest to switch to braided line in the past year and I just can't do it. I have missed so many fish trolling it's sickening. Not to mention that I have caught fewer fish overall since I put braid on my reels last winter. I don't know what I could be doing wrong or maybe I'm just a poor fisherman but I just don't get any good results from braided line. Going to reload on mono tomorrow and get back to basics. Anyone else have problems catching fish with braided line?
It's all I use. 20/6 for longlining and 30/8 for cranking.
Same here. 15-4 on every pole and not a problem catching fish.
Use mono leaders on braided , this should make a big diff in missed fish, in my opinion , give it a try!

Are you missing them on the strike or are they pulling off before you get them to the boat?

On the strike. They will bend the rod back and get off. With mono they almost always get hooked. I'm not saying I'm missing fish all day long but I bet I see the rods get bit/miss 3 or 4 times on a trip out whereas with mono it was a very rare occurance.Quote:

For me the mono would be the weak link and would defeat the purpose of using braid to start with. I use it so I get my baits back, if not there would be days where I would lose 20-25 Crankbaits.Quote:
