That would be an issue if your trolling cranks but with jigs or minnows u only loose the hook or jig but save the weights which are the most expensive part of the set upQuote:

I've never tried it crappie fishing but I use it some on my bass poles. The problem I have is when I swing all I bring in is empty line all too often. I think rocks really fray it bad and it's so slick your knot pulls through a lot. It's strong though, hardly every bird nests and if it hangs on a cast all you have to do is give it a couple pulls outs the baitcaster and your back as with Mono sometimes its a cut job. I don't use it on every pole just certain ones and I was using the 6/20 but stepped up to the 50LB braid in hopes of less rock cuts and break offs on the swings.
I'm kinda hooked on that Cajun red line when it comes to my crappie gear, 6LB is really strong too.
Greg dont be giving all my secrets away lol. Sounds like u need to tune your jig hooks. Use braid and no problems pushing jigs. But hey i don't know much.

What kind of rods are u using?? I used braid on a cheap limit rod while spider rigging and had 4 other rods with mono and tht braid constantly caught fish and had no worries of breaking off and the sensitivity was amazing... lights jigs ran deeper also bc tge thinner diameter... only draw backs for me is i cant bite it for quick tiein and everyonce in a while a jig would fall off bc the line slipped through the eye of the hook where it bends together. Right now i have summit hi vis orange line and i love it... been amazed as to how well it stays tangle free and straight its like it knows which way to bend to get off the end of the rod tip ... fyi if you r fishing heber springs and not using a fluorocarbon leader i guarantee you u r gettin short strikes bc they can see tht braid clear as day...get a 4lb fluoro. Leader and i bet itll make a world of difference
