Took a drive down around crapslabstu country (Clermont Chain) today and was shocked :yikesat the water levels. I though the Harris chain was bad being down 2' or so....but, their docks are on dry land. It must be 5' to 6' or more. Hopefully one of these disturbances will dump-a-ton on Clermont!
I have a bad feling it is only gonna get worse. The developers were allowed for years to divert natural ponding aress into unnatural retention ponds that do not recharge the aquifier. Then when an abundance of rain does come it is sent rapidly to the river and out of here. I am not a scientist and hope I am wrong but something is happening.
If it's in Stu country then that's why the water is so low. He took all the fish out.RoflRofl
Late 50's early 60's all of those grass ponds along hwy 50 and 52 and others held water year round. They were full of yearling bass and B gills. You could wade and get all you wanted. Not any more. Now even he lakes are drying up.
So Sorry to hear, wish we could send some St. John's water that way ....................
I think Mike is right about the water in Clermont. Water levels have been an issue for some time now, I think since they covered all the hills with all those homes. There doesn't seem to be enough water to support the population so I have heard.
Well boys, it doesn't help with St. Johns River Mgmt. selling our water to out of state companies such as Niagra! With their wells in Groveland
they keep pulling water and we have to be carefull how many times a week we water. This B.S. has got to stop or we won't have an Aquafer!
Who gave St. Johns the sovern right to control our water?lake Co. is holding back water from Lake Apopka because they don't get along with
St.Johns. I got to get off my soap box!!!!

Told ya Mike.........Wasnt kidding was I? its sad, sad, sad. I have asked around for years as to who controls the water (south of our chain, Green swamp management, Polk county) but never seem to get a sure answer................... all I know is 2 years ago someone decided to turn on the water south of Lake louisa, and the hidden river (on SW corner of lake) Nellie drive, flowed for over two weeks and the entire chain came up 1-1.5 feet within a week...............as quickly it turned on..........it turned off.....havent seen a release of water since.
The Clermont chain is the lowest chain in the state..............hands down.
well someone flipped the switch and opened the creek in the SW side of the lake (Green swamp management?) and water is starting to find its way back into our chain. Some boats can get in some cant, depends on how deep your boat sits in the water, but its a start :)
i cant belive those residents lakefront dont know who is controlling their flow if anybody.
