They know who controls, but the powers to be have all the answers, if you want to call them answers. How would you like to be paying high taxes for lake front property and not be able to launch your boat unless you drag it 15-25 feet across sand to the water. What happened to Swiftmud? (joke of an organization) They are working with the federal government on Flood Insurance. By the way, mine went up from $260 to $980 a year because as of February this year they adopted new maps and a lot of people are being hit with this. If you have a mortgage, you have no choice but to pay it. For some of us, they did give us a two year extension of our existing rates, but then we go up. I am hoping they will reduce the premium with by allowing us a higher deductible. I will pay my loan off by next May and then I may tell them to put it where the sun doesn't shine. I am on higher ground and it may be worth the gamble since I am 74 and what the heck, I don't want to pay for people who built on the coast or rivers at low levels.
Just my two cents.
