Caught a mess of crappie sunday, and put the fillets in a ice cream tub, soaking in salt water. Went to cook some for lunch today and noticed some kindda string in the bottom of the bowl. WRONG!!!! It started squirming when I picked it up! It was about 3 inches long and the size of dental floss. Disgusting!
350 degree grease will cure anything

We cut em out of the few we catch around here. I'm sure I've fried a few also. They taste like crappie to me. BWAHAHAHAHA.

When rinsing my fillets I examine each fillet for parasites and take the tip of my fillet knife and pick it out. Those blood worms are ussally balled up in a red bloth in the meat easy to spot. There is also a little yellow worm most common in bass fillets I pick out also, they are harder to spot and i dont know why but they love bass. Hardly ever find one in a crappie.
Those yellow or white and about about the size of a grain of rice? The worms are in Crawfish which are eat'n by Bass then Bass by wading Birds then pooped back into water to complete life cycle.Quote:
