Anyone doing any good!!!!!
I hope everyone is doing well. The last three weeks of fishing have been pretty good. 2 weekends ago we went to Storm Creek. We brought back (me and my wife) 61. I didn't want to post until I got the pictures up but that doesn't seem to want to happen. We kept 31 crappie, 20 catfish, 2 hybrids (one over 10 pounds) 3 bass, and the rest were bream. That was the rainy weekend.
We didn't have a set pattern. We caught the biggest ones trollin in 20 feet of water. (My chartruse roostertail). They were biting about 8 feet deep. Typical post spawn. The funny thing was, we caught 28 out of one tree in an area we typically catfish. Nothing really stood out about it. We used minnows for some and a firetiger 3" grub for the rest. They were even biting crickets. Now don't get me wrong, I like seeing maybe 4 other boats on this lake but if you are in the area, it is worth the trip. We live 3 hours away. I don't get there nearly as much as I would like.
We went to Millwood this weekend. I knew it was going to be great when I caught a 2" bass trolling. My wife asked me if I had developed a new technique. She couldn't believe I actually caught it. We caught 50 something crappie a couple in the 2 lb range. They ran small the majority of the time. I will try to get the pictures up if I can get the scanner to work. We caught the fish on my favorite lure the chartruse roostertail and the wee series crankbaits by strike king. The smaller ones ate up the little crankbait.
We fished the sides of an underwater island. It went from 17 feet up to 4. They were again in the 8 ft, range. They were hanging out in the lillly pads and moss beds that are springing up.The area we fish is EXTREMELY hard to get to. The hornets and allegators stand guard. Even caught a bullfrog.
We are camping at Poinsett this weekend. I have a dream to catch a trout, smallmouth, largemouth, crappie, bream, hybrid, and catfish in one weekend. I hope this is it. Be safe this weekend and have fun.
