    Default Any One Doing Good?

I have had limited time to fish but have not seen much on the board bragging about any nice stringers lately. Anyone doing any good out there? Also anybody out there ever fish the Ouachita River below Malvern in the Social Hill, Donaldson area? My little brother is dying to go fish it. He fishes for anything, as I do, but I would like to get into some panfish, especially crappie.

Had my second worse Saturday of fishing this year, last Saturday was the worst. Went to Paradise today caught 1 crappie, 1 gill, 2 catfish, 1 white bass, 2 drum. Nobody was doing anything down there. Will try again tomorrow, hope it is not as windy as today. Hope everybody had a good day, post some pics so I can remembery what they look like.

    A bad day of fishing
beats a good day at work.

I came in for lunch , my gal wanted to get some sun on the boat. So we went back to the lake for a couple of hours and I caught a few more while she sun bathed .
Reckon I'll be back out in the morning.
When I got my 16 crappie that I kept filleted , it was 3/4 of a gallon ice cream bucket of fillets. Man with out my boat for so long thought I'd lost my touch ! Them crappies are still in trouble now that my boats back.

Went out on my home lake again today. The bigger fish were not biting for me like yesterday. I kept a limit ,but they were not as big as yesterday. I had some descent fish today , just no slabs. The biggest were 12 '' or so. Oh well they will eat good later.:D I caught them all on tube jigs again today. Could be cause that's all I fish with anymore.

Nimrod sure appreciate your reports on the fishing up there. Still wish I could get you a digital camera so you could post some pix of those catches. Or even better yet just pose for a few myself.

take care and keep those reports comming.

    Default Anyone doing any good!!!!!

I hope everyone is doing well. The last three weeks of fishing have been pretty good. 2 weekends ago we went to Storm Creek. We brought back (me and my wife) 61. I didn't want to post until I got the pictures up but that doesn't seem to want to happen. We kept 31 crappie, 20 catfish, 2 hybrids (one over 10 pounds) 3 bass, and the rest were bream. That was the rainy weekend.

We didn't have a set pattern. We caught the biggest ones trollin in 20 feet of water. (My chartruse roostertail). They were biting about 8 feet deep. Typical post spawn. The funny thing was, we caught 28 out of one tree in an area we typically catfish. Nothing really stood out about it. We used minnows for some and a firetiger 3" grub for the rest. They were even biting crickets. Now don't get me wrong, I like seeing maybe 4 other boats on this lake but if you are in the area, it is worth the trip. We live 3 hours away. I don't get there nearly as much as I would like.

We went to Millwood this weekend. I knew it was going to be great when I caught a 2" bass trolling. My wife asked me if I had developed a new technique. She couldn't believe I actually caught it. We caught 50 something crappie a couple in the 2 lb range. They ran small the majority of the time. I will try to get the pictures up if I can get the scanner to work. We caught the fish on my favorite lure the chartruse roostertail and the wee series crankbaits by strike king. The smaller ones ate up the little crankbait.
We fished the sides of an underwater island. It went from 17 feet up to 4. They were again in the 8 ft, range. They were hanging out in the lillly pads and moss beds that are springing up.The area we fish is EXTREMELY hard to get to. The hornets and allegators stand guard. Even caught a bullfrog.

We are camping at Poinsett this weekend. I have a dream to catch a trout, smallmouth, largemouth, crappie, bream, hybrid, and catfish in one weekend. I hope this is it. Be safe this weekend and have fun.

Hey Jake: It's been tough this year and if you're not on them most every day it's been even tougher. Wen't to Greeson this morning with Jerry and kept 30. It was a great day and a welcome change. Picture's on his website.

That could be arranged . I went this afternoon and took a local mill owner. We did poor but still had enough fillets to fill a quart bag for their supper. Told him to use lighter line next time. The tuesday night bass tournament afternoons is a bad time to crappie fish ! We suppose to hit the lake one day next week. Give me a PM and we might set up a fishing trip swap ?:D
