Sauger vs. Crappie
I caught a couple Sauger on the river this evening. I have never caught them before... From what I hear, they are good eating. I love Crappie and kind of find it hard to believe somthing could be better. I plan on finding out tommorrow after filleting them. The Buzz is, by fellow fishermen on the river that Sauger is much better eating than Crappie... Any input on that anyone?
I will post pictures after I figure out how to do via iPhonebanghead

They are as good but not better

They are some good eating but I don't think I would say they are better than crappie.

Never had Sauger but their cousin Walleye, Can't be beat, unless you buy it in a restaurant
-
Your in for a treat! I think Crappie, Gills, Sauger, Walleye are all darn good...What river were you fishing?

I tried to catch some on the ar river near redfield but after breaking off about 12 jigs on 15 casts I gave up and decided I needed a new setup...

Sauger are good,,VERY good, we used to catch alot of them below the Dam here at Dardanelle in the winter months, but has been some time since I have been on them...I also wore the walleye out below the dam at webers falls Ok. way back yonder, I wonder why we don't have walleye on down here, maybe water is a bit too warm?

Roll 'em in cracker crumbs, and saute in butter and EVO---hard to beat. They are a little stronger tasting than crappie or walleye, but mighty good.

as good as ...but not better...you can catch a mess at toadsuck...perry county side...behind wall....good luck

I catch them in my nets in the Arkansas River all the time this time of year. Find you the deepest water around and they'll be there.
