boat deck repair
new project,accident report to follw,
well since I can not fish, thought I would tear up my boat, neighbour came by and we tore the deck off the front of the boat, not to bad, he did the heavy work, I did the drill motor running, lots of screws, got the deck off, little bit of a deal but not bad, now
should I go back with wood, or does anybody have any experience with aluminum decking, and where would one buy the decking, anybody arround springfield, joplin,or places near here know where to buy aluminum decking, going to try bass pro in lebanon and see if they sell it, probably go back with wood, easier to work with. but do not want to rule out a metal deck,
I was surprised at how easy it came off. unusuall for me to do something with out a mess
couple pictures of what is underneath a deck

Beagle, aluminum decking isn't a bad thing but couple things to be aware of. It can "oil can" pop back and forth, especially if there's long spans between mounting points. And stainless steel screws can wallow out holes in the aluminum deck over a period of time if there's any movement. Aluminum can be warmer on hot days, even through the carpet. Good luck whatever you choose and I'll skip the accident report if it's all the same with you.

got the mess cleaned up, wire ran, connectors checked, couple of them were loose, ready to hook up the lowrance structure scan to the front HD-7 , KAZ no accident report,, all is well in barry county. go to town tomorrow and get the marine plywood, think I will go wood, that metal is to hard to work with(i think). wood worked well the first 6 years, should be fine in the future.

Shouldn't be a problem with wood if you make sure you get it dry after it gets wet. That looks like a mouse hotel instead of just a house! :D Good luck....and be CAREFUL!
-
it is always stored inside, no tellin how many fish passed over that mouse house.

When I bought my boat I found one of those up in behind where the trolling motor plugs in. They had quite a nest built up in there luckily they hadn't chewed on any wires.
-
If you use marine grade plywood it will last a good many years since you store the boat inside.
I'm sure OSS would have used diamond tread plate.:D
-
I replaced the front deck, back deck and the floor in the old Tracker Tournament 17 I used have, not to bad of a job, got my wife to do the carpeting.:). I would stick with the wood if you are going to recarpet the boat, should last awhile.

You could go with a fiber board, works like wood and weighs less. it looks like you could add some storage or a bait well. I an trying to add one and I am also working on a cooled live well.

already ahead of you jim, battery going up front to run depth/fish unit, storage box, also, front deck will go from 6feet to better than 9ft lot more room.
