Which tm to buy

Let me start off by saying I have had MK all my life on every boat Ive owned. When I bought this boat last March, it had a MG on it and instead of trashing it, I decided I would give it a chance. Well I've given it a chance and I still hate everything about it. I know Im going back with MK, so my question for you all is this. If you were going to take part of your tax return and spend it on a MK tm, which one would you get and why? Im really likeing the wireless ones but not seeing good reviews on the Fortrex.

I think it depends on the type of fishing you prefer to do most of the time. If you like getting up in the woods, bumping stumps and chomping up a little wood in route to your special honey hole than a Maxxum is the one for you, especially if you prefer to fish from the front of the boat in very tight situations.

If, on the other hand, you prefer open water fishing deep brush piles, bottom bumping, long line trolling and pulling cranks then a Terrova may be the weapon of choice.

The terrova will get you in stick-ups and will work just fine slipping around DonDon's bridge pilings. The terrova also has an advantage if you find yourself fishing alone or have an inexperienced angler sitting up front and you need to guide them to the fish.

I could not of said it better myself. I have always had a cable controlled motor like the Maxxum. I have recently switched to a Terrova and I have had some trouble getting used to it when I am single pole fishing. I guess I have got use to being able to steer my motor with out looking at it.
For trolling I would not trade my Terrova for anything, but at times I would like to have my Maxxum back. I am thinking about buying another Maxxum and another quick mount so that I can swap the Terrova and the Maxxum for what style of fishing I will be doing.

That's the ultimate solution to all of the nonsense but my pockets aren't that deep right now. My butts sore from straddling the side scan fence for so long but I'm determined to hold off until all the down scanner guys get their stuff going and a clear winner can be determined between Lowrance and the Birds.

I am on my second MK power drive,have looked at the terrova and think ill staY with the pd. love it.

I have a Power Drive sitting in the floor of my shop and a Maxxum mounted to the boat. I was thinking that I'd get 2 quick detach plates and swap. Turns out, there is no plate that will take a PD/Terrova and a Maxxum on the same base. Therefore, you'd have to mount one on the left and one on the right. I'm undecided at the moment. I'm thinking I'm going to take the Maxxum off, permanently mount the PD and see how I like it. Trouble is, next stop is single polling the tight stuff. I'm pretty sure I'll hate the PD for that. Anther thought is to quick mount the PD and have a bracket welded on for a transom mount hand control. Know I'd love that. But then, I'd have no need for the Maxxum.

Obviously, I need another boat and 6 more trolling motors.

But....to answer your question: You know you'd like the Maxxum. The Terrova is a possibility. Some learn to single pole with them, some don't like that. The Terrova would be the shizzle for long line/spider rigging and possibly crank baits if you've got enough battery. The only solution is both, but the real answer is.....it depends.

Everyone seems to be telling me to go with the Terrova on the other pages, but here you all say that I might not like it when it comes time to bump stumps on the Rez with a jig pole in my hand. Why is that?
