Could you explain uses for the ethernet port on the
newer units? I'm not sure what I'd do with it. Will this at some time
replace the comm port / interlink setup we have now, or is it only for
"other" stuff? Maybe someday be able to share sonar data and such
from multiple units like the "other guys"?
Good question but I got no answer for it. I’ve been told nothing definite about this yet but many of us have been speculating about it… I doubt that anything official will be stated until these new accessories or a software update is available to make use of it. What these will be or when this will happen I just don’t know.

Hmmm. Just had a thought - have any of you who have had your hands
on an I-Pilot noticed if it has any unused ports, connectors, or other
appendages?

Be nice to be able to run the break lines with the trolling motor. Or it hold the breaks. Just hit a button on the GPS on the Humminbird and with the trolling motor do the work..
Then if someone would only make me a rod that can catch my fish. HEHE I sure can't.

I think back to my days of fishing "in the back of the boat", where someone else dealt with all of the boat control issues. The guy in the back often outfishes the guy in the front (at least in the walleye world!) because the guy in the back doesn't have to deal with positioning and controlling the boat...all he has to do is fish. i-Pilot provides that benefit to the guy who would normally have to split attention between fishing and boat control, and ultimately allows that angler to spend more time fishing and more time catching. In the end, isn't catching more fish what it's all about???
