I know this ain't the right way, BUT
I only get around to it every 3 or 4 years.
Not hard as long as you can get the plugs loose.
It may take one of those impact scrwedrivers you hit with a hammer
if they're really stubborn.
Those little pump bottle kits they sell at wally world make getting the new
stuff in a lot easier. You screw it into the bottom hole and pump till it flows
out the top hole. Then put top plug back in before you unhook the bottom
and plug it.
Thanks JW, I'm goin' on 2 years myself. Just hard to do when it's in the water most of the time! lol
May be over kill but I do mine once a year in jan or feb. I replace plugs, lower unit oil, impeller (if not entire pump).
I change my lower unit oil once a year and do it in the fall. If the oil you drain out is milky looking...then it has water in it and that means its time to replace the seals. This water thats in it if not changed could also freeze during the winter and could crack your foot. This is why I always do this in the fall. I replace my spark plugs every year in the springand I replace my water pump impellor every three years. Works for me.
Once a year minimum you gewbs. Changing the LU oil is the only indication you get whether or not their's water intrusion. Priced a new LU lately?
It ain't hard at all. I'll bet even DD could figure it out.
Wannabe...
you're supposed to change oil? Didn't know there was oil in it:D
