We heat them as usually the lead has cooled from the pouring. Small amounts of lead cool very quickly. Also, I clean the heads with a file before painting.

Each powder will come with a curing temperature and time. Some want long and hot, some cooler and for less time. I am for 350 degrees for 30 minutes. Bullets must slide through rifling, so I imagine they have different needs.
