It really depends on what type of lead you are using. Is it pure 100% soft lead or does it contain alloys such as wheel weights?

Are you pouring 10000 jigs at a time? If so, leave her up on max power and pour as fast as you can.

If it is pure lead, let it get hot until it starts burning the lead at the top and then back it down. All the pots run a little different however, 7-8 was a good setting for pure lead.

With alloys, they take more heat to produce it's melting point. Leave it up on max power for best results.

Make sure you keep your molds HOT. I put mine on top of the pot while it is heating up. I will then pour a minimum of 3 to 5 blank runs before ever pouring a jig. I make sure that all of them will pour without issue before continueing.
