Default Eagle claw 574 hooks rusting.

I pour most of my own jigheads using a eagle claw 574 hook which is the long shank version of the 570 hook that is used in most jig molds for ball heads.

Problem I am seeing is these hooks rust on me all the time fairly easy. I mean within like 2 weeks of pouring these hooks some have rust already on them. Does anyone else have this problem and could anyone recommend another brand of hook that would fall into the same category as the 574 besides eagle claw?

I use to have good luck with owner hooks but cannot find them in this 574 version.

I do not remember the mold name off hand, but it is the ball head do-it mold that has the 1/16 and 1/32nd's in it.

    Found the jig mold itself
    Round Head Jig - Sz: 1/32, 1/16, 1/8, 1/4, 5/16, 3/8, 1/2 - Hk: 570 or 575 - Collar: Tapered Barb

I haven't seen where EC is making the 574 in black nickle. Looking at Barlows was this on the 574 -

Please Note: Eagle Claw is in the middle of an inline change on some of their hooks styles. They are changing the point from a regular point to a "Needle Point" type point. This change includes making the barb smaller and more inline. We are unable to guarantee which style point and barb you will receive. Actual hook may vary from the picture above. We apologize for this inconvenience.

You know, after reading the description on the hooks, I wonder if it is because of the hook being bronze and not black nickel that they rust so easy?

If it wasn't for the extra length you want in the hook I'd tell you to switch to the regular black nickle or their lil nasty sickle hooks in black nickle. Maybe they'll come out with it in Black nickle

Rust is the reason i done away with bronze hooks in my lineup with the exception of the 574 i would be happy if ec ever makes them in any other color.

I just bought about a month ago some Eagle Claw offset 1.0 worm hooks for my soft plastics while fishing for bass. They have bad rust pits in the ones that have been used. My Eagle Claw EWG hooks I have used are fine. The metal looks the same but I guess it isn't. I really like using Eagle Claw hooks being they are American made.
