Was down Saturday and sunday, Had the boat out spider rigging on saturday. Got a few crappies, sunfish and a small largemouth. I havent been down to this lake all year as I spend most of my spring/summer on the river but wow it was like the dead sea. Not much action going on at all. Folks down at the dam, keeping everything they catch, are really putting a hurting on this fishery. Its really a shame.
Seriously what are they going to do with a 3-4 inch crappie... But into the bucket it goes.

That sure is a lot of complaining from a guy that's only made ONE trip to the lake all season.
Even the best fishermen have to do their homework on a lake they don't fish often. This time of year, you have to do a lot of searching if you don't have a seasonal knowledge of the lake. Check shallow brush. Deep brush. Downsize your baits. Add scents to help. Mark every brushpile, drop off, or hump you see on your locator, in your gps. Come back and give it a good checking. May have fish hiding in it or not. Won't know unless you fish it. There's fish in that lake. What's making those three inchers those people are keeping? Put the time in to find them.

I have fished this lake for the past 15 years just this year was the first year I have not fished it since I was on the river. Its really my home lake. I know where the crappies are or should be. The fishing pressure and people keeping everything they catch is killing this lake. As far as the three inchers go, the state stocks crappies on this lake I just dont think they get the time to grow before going in to the bucket.

B wizard is 100% correct. I have posted this in the past. When you have guys keeping 6 inch crappie that puts a hurt on catching any that are worth keeping. Also those fish do no even get a chance to spawn. I have fished this over 30 or 40 times a year including through the ice. It is a disaster. Perhaps not just from over keeping small fish but that does not help on a smaller lake.. However unless you can give personal experience criticism is not needed! Every lake fishes different and what may work in your area may not be the meal ticket for others!
