I know one thing it sure was chilly this morning with that wind. Glad I had my thermals on this morning. As for the bite the fish have me stumped. Every year I have spots that produce early. This year nothing. The fish that I have been catching have been on the move. 4 or 5 small ones than they're gone. Nothing has moved into the shallows yet all are out in the 10-13 for range. And right on the bottom.

I agree. They weren't where I normally catch them either. Moved out to deeper water, fished a foot off bottom, and caught around thirty with 8 over 11". The rest were smaller blacks. Bought a couple dozen minnows but only used one. BG shads did the job.

FIshed this morning and had a good day. Not much in the numbers wise but size of the fish I caught you didn't need many to make a meal. 2 in the 15" range and 5 13-14" and one 10 incher that swallowed the hook. One little dink. They wanted large minnows so had a few run offs that driopped the bait. Put a small minnow on and nothing. All the fish came from a mud flats drifting with the wind. 6-7 1/2 feet deep was the ticket. Boat was drifting anywhere from .5-.9 mph depending upon how strong the wind blew. Any shallower or deeper nothing. Water temp is 50. I was at Pymatuning yesterday and water temp was 47 and no fish.

    Default Shenango ?Pymy

Good afternoon fellow fisherman. Its been a while since I posted! Went to Shenango last sat. Caught bout 30 nice crappie bout 28' deep. I saw Chaunc when I was leaving. Always good to see a local pro. I went back Sunday to the same spot. Only got 6. Wind had picked up pretty strong. Headed out tomorrow again. Any more info would help. Any reports of Pymy? I'm hearing nothing positive!

Read the post above yours. Went out this morning and hammered the slabs for 2 hours. Brought home 11 that will make 4 meals. All males. Caught 5 or 6 females that were loaded with eggs that I released.

The lake was calm this morning as glass when I got there. Had to use the trolling motor on the lowest settting to move the bait around. .2-.3 mph was the ticket in 6-7 feet of water with medium minnows. Had the bait about a foot off bottom. Around 8:30 they got lock jaw and couldn't buy a bite.

Was at Pymie Tuesday and Wednesday and only caught a few perch and one smallmouth. Did have a hold of a nice eye but lost it. And that was right before sun rise. From what I've heard they (eyes) are biting at night but my source isn't the most reliable person. Tried 4 or 5 spots for crappies and not a bite. Tuesday I only saw 2 boats and Wednesday saw maybe 8, this was at the south end of the lake. I'm done with crappies for the year now on to the eyes until August.

Fished yesterday and today. I shoukld of had my head examined for being out there yesterday. Wind and rain didn't make it to much fun. But had fun with the fish. Not many crappies but either the large strippers or muskies were up on the shallow bars. 3 fish one a large hyubred that weighted about 6 lbs. Hit a jig while fishing vertical for walleyes. I tried to do a little trolling and lost 2 other fish that snapped 8# test like it was thread. All the hits came on a 1/8 jig and tail. The water temp came down so I moved out a little deeper and the crappies were staging out in the 10 foot range suspended off the drop offs.

Today the crappies were hugging the bottom. I picked up 6 over 12 inches while jigging for eyes in 12 fow.

I had temps in the high 60's low 70's during the hot spell, now today it dropped down to 64.6 degrees. Water is a foot higher than normal and clear down to about 4 foot.

Bill, how was your week of camping and fishing on Shenango lake last week? Couple of my buddies from Ohio said they were there yesterday and caught over 40 crappies but only two were actual keeper size. I've been fishing Mosquito and the size of fish are much better with only a few throwbacks a day in getting my 30 fish limit.
