I haven't been on shenango lake since the 14th. I dont have any current info as even all my buddys are fishing Pymy and Squito. I fished Squito this morning and it only took me 1 1/2 hrs to get my 30 fish limit. May try trolling for eyes sunday. good luck on shenango

Shenango is behaving badly for some reason. All this water that they let out of the lake has the fish confused. I've been jigging for eyes and the eyes have been up shallow and the crappies are deeper in the 10-14 fow. The crappies that I've been catching will be keepers in about 4 years. Those hybreds or white bass have seem to disappeared this year. By now they should be a pain in the butt but haven't caught one in about 2 weeks. Water temp is in the 70's. Large cats are starting to hit. They should be hitting big time in a month but the last few days they have really turned on.

Agreed Sparkie. My dad and I fished it hard Friday and did bring home 15, but overall the size of the fish was nothing to write home about. They did yield a good 2-meal fish fry. Only 1 fish had eggs. I'm feeling like they spawned during the high water. A friend at the marina caught some Saturday at their docks, but again no eggs in any fish. Not sure where to go to get some for the freezer.

Make the trip up to linesville. Those big crappies are schooling up in the deeper stumps now. 9 to 11 ft should be ideal right now. Headed that way this weekend. Weather will be beautiful friday, sat, and sunday.

I fished shenango last wednesday and took home 25. 9 were over 11" and the rest were fat black 9's. Got some nice fillets off those 9's. If you're not catching the slabs, at least keep some of those 9's. The lake needs some of them taken out to thin the herd. Dont want stunting to take over. Want to eat some fish, those are good eating. Just have to clean a half dozen more to make up for the size diffrence.

Fished shenango yesterday. Planned on a C&R day. Went to one of my favorite areas to see if the size has improved from last trip. It has. Caught and released around 15 that were over 10 and lost the biggest one at boatside because i didn't use my net. It was well over 12 but i was going to throw it back anyway so i didn't care about netting it. Went to a diffrent area and started catching those fat 9's and throwing them back when i got a call from my brother Ruebin asking me to keep some for him. Kept less than 20 for him and gave them to him at the dock. Flashing lightning cut the trip short so i loaded up and left. Not a bad day of fishing. Headed up to pymy in the morning to do some gillin. If i find them, fishfry tommorrow evening.

Hey Chaunc have you noticed the explosion of carp this year? Never seen that many carp ever in Shenango. If anyone catches a large cat (approx. 15+ lbs with a lure in the right side of his mouth) please return my lure, it was the last one of that color that I had. Hooked him trolling and he decided to see if I wanted to water ski for a while. Pulled me across the lake. Finally lost him at the net. Seeing a lot of cats running just below the surface. Marking a lot of bait fish. Still catching quite a few crappies trolling, all on the small side.

About 3 years ago, in late fall, i watched a carp migration. They were in a line 2 to 3ft wide heading down the right side of the lake. Had to be 1/4 mile long. Didn't have my camera that day. Never seen nothing like it before or since. Had to be hundreds if not thousands in that line.
