Default How to use a disgorger

I thought I was going to have to make a video for Youtube on how to use a disgorger, but I found this on another site.

    http://www.angelfire.com/sd2/chavender/disgorger.html

Disgorgers are great for unhooking gills and other small-mouthed fish. They're all I use.

    Lindy sells one:

Wacker Baits also sell them, and you might be able to find them at Cabela's, Bass Pro and FishUSA.

You can also make your own. A small stick with a notch on the end will work, too.

Yep, that will work, too -- much better than forceps or pliers.

It's a European fish called a tench. This is a small one.

    Default disgorgers

Ive used the lindy/thill combo disgorger and it works very well. I broke mine
about 3-4 times and super glued it then finally I left a plastic worm on it in my tackle box and it ate into it. If you search ebay UK or other uk fishing sights you can find various disgorgers. I made about a dozen out of delrin, they are much stronger than normal plastic ones, they really come in handy with small hooks and small fish. I have been using mine with #22 and 24 hooks where even forcepts are to big and clumsy in a tiny fishes mouth. To use a disgorger you hold the line tight install the disgorger and slide it under tight line into the fishes mouth and all the way down to the hook then give it a pop downward and the fish usually falls to the ground.
