I have no idea about boss rods, but fishing items are still tools. You are better off if you match the tool to the quary and task at hand. I usually use small stuff for bluegill so my fishing buddy also has them in his box(fishing thief:D). My mainstay is normally a small float that balances with 1/32oz maximum. So last trip out we were at a small pond after really small bluegill for bait. He knows if he asks and shows me a bait im going to yell "SMALLER" at him. He pulled out one of my 1/32 floats from his box and #10 hook, can you guess what i yelled at him??? Then i pulled out the 1/64 float and #20 hook. By the time he got tied up i had 10 fish already. There are some really good products out there if you know how to use them. I at times also use spring bobbers on my rods, its like watching someone turn on a light, no doubt it is a fish although he may only be 3/4" long or come up with your bait. I have even found the weight of rod and reel, angle and height you hold a rod above the water will increase and decrease you sensitivity. Contrary to what you might think alot of the time the fish dont even take down the 1/64oz float, they peck, lift and swim with it.
