Those are just too flimsy and don't hold up well after a few months.
(Insulated poly-foam worm box has dual fliptop lids for easy access to top or bottom. )

I guess that is why I am looking for some plans to build my own a little more sturdy out of cedar wood or something like that. I will probably line it with poly-foam and put some dual flip tops on it or something. The ideal box would be a smaller one for the fishing bank and a larger one as an incubator.

How about a small tackle box with a removeable tray. Pitch the tray and keep the worms and bedding in the bottom of the box.

When I was a kid hundred years ago, I used old tin wash tub and dug a hole to sit it in the ground. It stuck above the ground about 6-8 inches to keep it from getting ground water.

Had super small holes in the bottom of the tub for draining.

Took straw and laid it on the top, not too thick.

It worked great.

Ship- I have been getting a lot of help from a friend in OK on handling these red worms. I'm starting to raise the big red worms .I branched out on my own a bit and got a black plastic cement or morter mix tray from the local Lowes lumber.36"X24"X8" I think it was $12 or $13. I'll make a simple frame for it and keep it up off the floor.Punch a couple rows of 1/2" holes in the bottom for drainage. I'm mixing 1 part Peat moss ,1 part good soil, and 1 part rabbit manure. I have laying mash on hand to feed after they finish the rabbit manure a little. Later I plan to add one more box and let both reproduce over the winter in my heated shop.
I'll mention to my friend that this thread is here in case he wishes to add info from his broad knowledge. ole Mike

Sorry ship, I re-read your post and what I posted is not ment for hauling around. Heat is not a big problem with red worms, so I would think any tight lid box would be fine. Mike

I have a set up to raise red wigglers in that works nicely.

I was thinking of making a wooden carry case for bank fishing and line it with styrofoam to keep the worms cooler on the bank. I made a prototype from a shoe shine box. I'll just make my own plans etc and do one. I thought if someone had done it...why duplicate the wheel. I'll make one with an over and under lid to have access to them.

Ship, This is what I have been using to fish with worms. Go to any store that handles icechest. Look for the MiniMate Ultra Icechest made by Igloo. IT is insulatated, has an easy-openbutton on top to open either way. Put some bedding, topsoil, or potting soil in it about 4" deep. To top it off I bought a small icepack to fit inside of the icechest. After being in the sun all day the worms are nice and cool. Get home wash it and stick it back in the freezer till next time. Hope it helps. Once you see what I'm talking about you'll like it.
